Anyone can record a Google Meeting if:
- You were the one who created the meeting
- You are a participant of the meeting and you joined it using the same organization email address, in this case, your Benilde account.
Whether you are the one who started the meeting or a participant, make sure to ask permission from the other participants before you record the meeting.
How do I record on Google Meet?
There are two ways to record a meeting on Google Meet. To illustrate, let us look at the Google Meet toolbar.

There are several icons to be found in the toolbar located at the bottom of the screen but to record a Google Meeting, you can go through ACTIVITIES or MORE OPTIONS.
Activities

The ACTIVITIES icon is the second icon from the right on your screen that looks like a triangle stacked on top of a square and circle. When you click on that the ACTIVITIES panel will appear displaying two items: RECORDING and WHITEBOARDING.
Click on the RECORDING button to start the recording.
More Options

The MORE OPTIONS button is among the set of icons found in the middle of the bottom of the screen and to the left of the END CALL button. It appears as three dots stacked on top of each other. Click on the third link from the top marked RECORD MEETING to start the recording. Sometimes the CAST THIS MEETING button does not appear, so the button will appear second.
When can I start recording a Google Meeting?
If you are recording the Google Meeting for documentation or as a reference for later it is always a good idea to wait until all the participants have entered the meeting. Make sure to let them know you will be recording and that they are ok with it.
If you are making a video presentation, you don’t really need to add other participants unless they are necessary to the presentation. This means that you can start the recording at any time.
You can pause or stop the recording at any time during the meeting.
Why should I record a Google Meeting?
Here are reasons you may want to make a Google Meet recording:
For documentation
Nowadays most organizations prefer to have an archive of the meetings for documentation purposes.
As a Reference
While most people still take down notes, it is always helpful to have a video copy (especially for classes and important meetings) so that you could watch it again in case there was something you missed.
To create a simple video presentation
You can also use Google Meet to make simple video presentations. This will come in handy for making video reports, tutorials, and presentations, especially if you do not have any video software installed on your computer.
