As an assigned rater, you play a key role in shaping the growth of your ratees. Evaluating your colleagues through PARF begins with conducting observations either in-person or through BigSky, followed by completing the online form. PARF is a vital basis for plantilla loading and administrative decisions while helping educators enhance their professional development and uphold high teaching standards at Benilde.
Face-to-face Observation
When conducting face-to-face observations, keep the following in mind:
- Carry out observations through classroom visits, conferences, or exhibits.
-
Fill out the online PARF, including any additional observations as needed:
- Benilde Manila: PARF Evaluation
- Benilde Antipolo: PARF Evaluation
- Collect evidence to support your ratings, including recommended exhibits that showcase the teacher’s performance. If necessary, request these exhibits from the ratee and ensure they are returned after use.
- Provide constructive feedback to the ratee, ensuring both parties acknowledge the completed PARF.
BigSky Observation
For conducting BigSky observations, follow these steps:
- In the assigned BigSky course, ensure your settings are set as an observing instructor. If any of the permissions allow changes, notify oier@benilde.edu.ph.
- Ensure that each item in the online PARF form specifies the exhibits or evidence you should collect and review, which can be found in specific BigSky features. Two or three consistent exhibits are usually sufficient for an objective evaluation. Refer to the BigSky Observation Checklist below.
-
For synchronous sessions, recorded sessions serve as the primary evidence. Live synchronous observations are allowed under the following guidelines:
- Confirm all schedules and platforms for the synchronous sessions.
- Plan your visit by specifying which aspects of teaching will be assessed.
- Notify the ratee of your presence during live observations, and the ratee should introduce you to the students. Maintain confidentiality and privacy at all times.
- Observations outside the designated period are prohibited.
-
Additionally, observations can extend beyond the classroom, allowing for interviews with the ratee or students. However, the following rules apply:
- Students must be contacted via Benilde Mail and must consent to the interview.
- Interviews should be conducted by phone to avoid improper documentation.
- The scope of the interview should be limited to teaching performance, using the online PARF as a guide.
-
Fill out the online PARF:
- Benilde Manila: PARF Evaluation
- Benilde Antipolo: PARF Evaluation
- Provide constructive feedback to the ratee, ensuring both parties acknowledge the completed PARF.
Any breach of these guidelines will result in disciplinary action. Email oier@benilde.edu.ph to report any issues.
