You can decide when students can start and finish an activity by setting the Start Date and Due Date under Availability Dates and Conditions. The Start Date marks when students can start viewing an activity or module, and the Due Date dictates the limit to when they can submit.
The End Date is not the same as the Due Date. The End Date defines the availability of the content for the students to view and submit even if it’s past the Due Date.
If your students are required to complete an activity before they can view the activity, you can add Release Conditions.
- From the BigSky homepage, click on the course where the activity you want to set availability dates and conditions is located.
- Find the content, assignment, or quiz you want to update and edit its contents.
- From the editing page, click Add Release Condition > Create New. Choose Add existing if there are previous conditions you want to reuse.
- Select the Condition Type from the drop-down menu (for example, Completed content topic).
- Define the Condition Details.
- Click Create.
With this setup, students only access the activity after meeting specific conditions.
Availability dates and release conditions can be set not only for activities, assignments, and quizzes inside a module but also for modules and sub-modules.
