The Dropbox folder is different from the BigSky Portfolio, although they both allow students to submit files from their desktop or laptop. Through the Portfolio tool, students can upload pictures or videos of their work directly to their designated folders from the Brightspace Portfolio App. Additionally, they can include notes and audio along with their submissions.
- On the BigSky homepage, click on the course for which you want to set up portfolios for students.
- From the Navigation Bar, click Assessment > Portfolio.
- You can enable Avatars, tick on your desired settings for Evidence Approval, and create categories through Category Management.
- Save your settings. You may view portfolios by student or by evidence.
If you have Evidence Approval enabled, all submissions will appear on the Approve Evidence page, with the button found on the right side of the page. Click Approve to Portfolio to approve and add submissions to your student’s portfolio folder.
You can provide feedback as you wish through the comment icon. Through the Teacher Feedback box, you can also include private notes.
The Portfolio is ideal for assignments requiring multimedia elements or ongoing collections of student work. Similar to Dropbox, Portfolio submissions can be graded depending on your course setup. Ensure to check if grading options are enabled for portfolios in your settings.
