Make your content and course materials accessible anytime and readily available for your students by posting lessons and organizing them as modules, sub-modules, and activities.
Add Module
- From the BigSky homepage, click on the course where you want to post lessons.
- On the Navigation Bar, click Content.
- Go to Table of Contents on the right side and click Add a module.
- Type the module title.
- Inside the module, click New.
- You can upload files or create them through the drop-down menu of activity types.
Activity Types
- Upload Files - upload documents, presentations, or other file types from your computer.
- Video or Audio - add multimedia content by uploading video or audio files, or by embedding media from other sources.
- Create a File - create a new document using the text editor, allowing rich formatting and embedding multimedia.
- Create a Link - add a hyperlink to external websites or resources, making them easily accessible to students within the module.
- Add from Manage Files - insert files uploaded from the course file repository.
- Add Object from LOR - Add materials from the repository via Stockpile.
- New Dropbox - Create an assignment submission folder where students can upload their work for grading.
- New Checklist - Create a list of tasks or requirements for students to complete.
- New Discussion - Set up a discussion forum for student participation.
- New Quiz - Create a quiz or test with customizable questions and settings.
- New Survey - Develop a survey to gather feedback or information.
Add a Sub-module
Sub-modules are nested within a module and can be used to break down large topics into smaller, more manageable sections.
- From the BigSky homepage, click on the course where you want to create a sub-module for a module.
- On the Navigation Bar, click Content.
- Go to Table of Contents on the right side or directly select the module.
- Choose the module from another module or sub-module and click Add a sub-module….
- Type a title and press Enter. You will see the same options for activity types as when adding a module.
Delete Module or Sub-module
- From the BigSky homepage, click on the course where you want to delete a module or sub-module.
- Select the module or sub-module you want to delete from the Table of Contents.
- Click the drop-down arrow beside the title and choose Delete Module or Delete Sub-module.

There are 2 options for deleting a module or sub-module:
- Remove the module, its sub-modules, and topics from Content but keep files and activities in the course. When you select this option, the module, its sub-modules, and topics will be removed from the Content area, but the associated files and activities will remain available within the course.
- Permanently delete all associated files and activities. When you select this option, all associated files, activities, and content related to the module will be permanently deleted from the course.
Delete Activity
- From the BigSky homepage, click on the course where you want to delete an activity.
- Under Table of Contents, select the module or sub-module where the activity is located.
- Click on the downward arrow to expand the choices and choose Delete Topic.
Be mindful when deleting modules, sub-modules, and activities. Once deleted, there is no recycle bin or way to retrieve them.
